- Who am I?
- A parent. A teacher. An ordinary person. Who happens to love film.
- Also someone with the privilege of seeing many different motion pictures, courtesy of an amazing wife and an equally amazing mother-in-law, both of whom frequently help me find time to take time for me.
- I am not someone who claims expertise or specialized knowledge. I have dabbled as a writer and once wrote, directed, shot and edited a short film for a college course, but even I recognize these experiences mean very little.
- I love film. I love watching it. I love talking about it. No more. No less.
Hooray! Congratulations on your new blog!
Thank you!
This is good. REAL good.
Glad for you. You need an outlet like this – and you are good at it. 🙂
Thank you!
I’m loving your blog and can’t wait to read more from it.
Thanks much!
Don’t mention it, you should check out my blog.
Actually, I already was, simultaneously, by sheer coincidence. 😉
Hey there James, I love the style of this page man. Can’t wait to get into reading it some more. I’ve returned the favor and have added you on my DSB Blogroll of Honor! 😀
Awesome. Thanks much!
On both counts. 🙂
Hey, good find with Tom here.
Thanks following me as well. The blog’s been quiet recently, but I haven’t been: I’m now the Director of Television over at NextProjection.com. I still write plenty on film, and a lot of other talented people contribute there, so it’d be worth your time.
Very best of luck! Certainly a good start (some great enthusiasm for WAJDJA).
Because Wadjda is amazing!
And thanks for letting me know about NextProjection. I’ll check it out, especially since I noticed the blog has been quiet. 🙂
Very cool. I am glad you are branching out and expressing your love of film.
Thank you!
Hey! We’re both teachers and movie buffs. So what do you teach and where do you live?
Thank you so much for stopping by!
I live in Minnesota, the Twin Cities. St. Paul to be specific. I teach English Language Learning to non-native speakers.
You?
AP US History, AP World History, and Holocaust Studies. But I taught English, too, for 12 years before switching over to history; love it! I am from Illinois but have found myself here in northern Arizona and loving the sunshine everyday. Makes me cheery.
Do you follow Ruth at Flixchatter? She’s a great movie buff and is located in the Twin Cities.
I do follow her; I think she’s even been around my site a few times. Didn’t know she was in the Twin Cities, though. (I guess I probably just needed to read her reports on the Twin Cities Film Festival). 🙂
And History, huh. I love it, too. Actually my Master’s Thesis is all about History instruction, and some day I might finish a second license so I can legally teach Social Studies (I’m about half done). So. We have that in common, too. 🙂
Good luck and I look forward to reading your posts!
Just because I announced it on everyone else’s blog and I don’t want you feeling left out…You’ve been nominated for a Sunshine Award! You are awesome! Please continue the awesomeness! 🙂

I nominated you for the LIebster Award! Check out my blog for more information!
Thank you, sir! I’ll come take a look in the coming days – life is keeping me mostly away from the blogosphere this week.
Take your time James!
Hey there! I’ve just nominated you for a Versatile Blogger Award, because I genuinely enjoy reading your posts.
I totally understand that these awards are not for everyone, but should you choose to accept it, then here’s the link to your nomination:

If not, no hard feelings, I still rate your blog!
Thank you kindly! I’ll take a look at the post soon. 🙂
No problem! 🙂
Hey James, just wanted to pop by and say I nominated you for a Liebster Award. http://drewreviewmovies.wordpress.com/2014/05/17/a-gift-from-the-geek-the-liebster-award/
Awesome! Thank you so much.
I’ve been off the blog for a few weeks (since I’m not seeing any movies right now), but when I return (soon, I hope), I’ll come and check it out.
Thanks again!
What happened to you dude? You got up, left and vanished from the blog world haha!
First, thanks for checking in!
I have a little. I’ll be back in consistent fashion eventually, though. Now that baseball season has started, almost all of my evening free time has gone toward the Great American Sport, or however it’s dubbed, rather than movies. Couple that with being busy looking for a teaching gig next school year (I have now found one), and I haven’t seen a single film since the festival in late April. I’m up over a month now.
And I’ve found that my interest in discussing movies has waned as I’m not seeing them. Once I start seeing them again, I’ll return to blogging with a fury, I assume! 🙂
Hey was wondering if you’d like to do a guest review write-up for my blog? Can be any movie as long as you finish by scoring it out of ten. contact troyster90@yahoo.co.uk
